Finca la Herradura

Our residential centre aims to offer space and conditions for adults to engage in learning, unlearning, collective processes and artistic and creative practice. Because we do not wish to limit what might be happen here, or preclude what we can’t yet imagine, we resist precisely defining the scope of the centre. However, whatever the content, we emphasise processes that engage in mutually enriching dialogue with the land and the other processes taking place here, drawing nourishment and inspiration from what is here already, and contributing nourishment and life to what is in the process of becoming.

The centre consists of three lovingly renovated farm houses - the top house, middle house and bottom house - all of which have simple well equipped kitchens, living rooms and washrooms. The bottom house and middle house sleep 4 and 2 respectively, are relatively private, and offer ideal conditions for coordinators and facilitators of group processes and personal work and residencies. The top house sleeps up to 8, has a larger kitchen, communal space and outdoor eating areas, and is ideal for larger groups and as a base for processes using more than one of the houses.

In the area immediately around the houses there is a large salt water swimming pool with shaded seating areas, a domed wood fired sauna, and a large wood fired oven. In addition to the housing area, the centre offers access to an open walled outdoor classroom/studio located in a lavender field, and (by request) a straw bale music studio suitable as a practice room for small bands or a recording studio for vocalists and producers. Finally, and most importantly, the centre offers access to the land and the river - healers, teachers and guides - and the ever changing spaces they create.
